A Week Skiing in Poland - December 2009

ski holiday poland

How much is a ski holiday in Poland this year? We asked a selection of travel agents offering holidays to Poland, how much we could expect to pay (remember it's always worth bargaining) for the following:

One week for two skiing in the Polish mountains, including flight from any UK airport to any Polish airport, travel from airport to mountain resort, half board accommodation and ski lift passes.

White Side Holidays have a cool website and are based in Zakopane and the UK. They offered us a package including equipment rental, slope transfers, airport transfer in Poland, ski lift pass and skiing lessons for just £475, which works out about £575 when flights are included. Flights separately.

gopoland.co.uk were helpful and very quick to respond to our email and came in with a price of £510 for two, flight via Krakow, airport transfer and accommodation in a three star hotel in Zakopane. Flights separately.

Polonium Travel offered us a couple of options, including a weeks stay in Swieradow Zdroj (in the Sudetan Mountains) flight via Wroclaw worked out cheaper than the Zakopane option at £435 and it's fair to say that many resorts will be less expensive than Zakopane. However, Polonium Travel didn't offer us a complete package and pricing seemed unclear. Flights separately.

Sunshine World were the only agency to offer a full package including flights via Kraków at a price of £620 per person. That's more than other packages but it includes important extras such as swimming pool, equipment rental, skiing instruction and lift passes, and Sunshine World do seem to have some experience in these tours.

Packages Compared

Sunshine World was really the only travel agent that was able to offer us a complete package, whilst Whiteside Holidays also scored well by offering equipment rental, ski lessons etc. The large travel agents like Opodo and Expedia didn't have any Winter packages to Poland.

To find the best deal, book flights independently to suit your diary, then look for independent listings of local accommodation and book direct.

Prices shown as we have been quoted and of course they will be subject to change. remember you can usually get a discount from travel agents when you bargain.
