With age comes experience
People are becoming more inclined to create memories these days, and less likely to purchase obligatory birthday gifts. It may be helpful to think about what your loved one would like to do, rather than what they would like to own. In so many ways, this will show more care for them, and their interests and hobbies, than purchasing a new 'witty' coffee mug for their office cubicle, or a new pair of business socks.
A birthday is the perfect excuse to spend a few days (or more) in a new and interesting location, especially if you are running short on gift ideas for men. Depending on the preferences of the special person involved, the range of activities available may be at least as important as the location itself. If pleasant nature walks are the order of the day, an industrial centre like Wroclaw may not be your first choice. If you have a reasonable amount of time, you could initiate a cross-continent car trip, even though to get from the Channel crossing to somewhere like Poland would include quite a few driving days. If you are prepared to take the time, though, there are more than a few stunning sights and enjoyable detours to break up a long journey. Some of the mountainous areas have passes that will make your stomach drop, so ensure that you have good emergency quipment and adequate insurance, and mind your speed. You don't want to pretend that you're rally driving on the edge of a cliff!
The advantages of many of these mountainous areas, though, is that there are plenty of fantastic activities for holidaymakers. From a spot of hiking, to white water rafting, to squeal-inducing paragliding and dizzying abseiling, there is surely something to suit everyone. For the truly terrified, it's probably not too far to a hot coffee and a slice of torte. So whatever your destination, make both the stay and the journey there memorable. People will look back much more fondly on gift experiences than they will do on knick-knacks. Spoil someone!
